Are IGCSEs more difficult than GCSEs?
The International General Certificate of Secondary Education, or IGCSE, is an internationally recognised qualification equivalent to the GCSE or General Certificate of Secondary Education.
Before the 2017 GCSE modifications, the IGCSE was frequently compared to the earlier O-Levels certificate and was seen to be more akin to it than the present GCSEs.
Because O levels were taught at a higher level, IGCSEs were sometimes claimed to be a more challenging test. According to the Department of Education, getting an A in science courses is more difficult under IGCSE.
Furthermore, because IGCSE results are purely focused on final examinations at the conclusion of the term, due to the decreased or absence of homework, some individuals believe that good scores in IGCSE are more difficult to attain than high grades in GCSE.
